[BOIS (engraving) - LEPÈRE (Auguste)]. Les Fêtes de Cherbourg.S.l., 1880. - Wood engraving 270 x 219 mm, bleached with ceruse white. Magnificent woodcut matrix by Auguste Lepère (1849-1918), after a drawing by Alexandre Ferdinandus (18..-1888). Comprising two rows of three blocks, each measuring approximately 13.5 x 7.2 cm, this work was published on the front page of issue 1221 of Le Monde illustré, dated August 21, 1880. The caption accompanying the illustration reads: "Les Fêtes de Cherbourg. - Triumphal arch raised at the entrance to the arsenal by naval workers. - Arrival of M. Grévy. (Drawing by M. Ferdinandus, based on his sketches and a photograph by M. Yvon de Loches)".
