RACINE (Jean).Esther. Tragédie Tirée de l'Escriture Sainte.P - Lot 40
RACINE (Jean).Esther. Tragédie Tirée de l'Escriture Sainte.Paris : Denys Thierry, 1689. - In-12, 157 x 92: (7 ff.), 86 pp. (3 ff. last blank), 1 plate. First edition in-12, published the same year as the original in-4. It presents a few variants in the text compared with the latter. The illustration consists of an unsigned plate, located here before the prologue, but usually found as a frontispiece. It reproduces, but inverted, the frontispiece of the original in-4, engraved by Sébastien Leclerc after Charles Le Brun. A good copy in a skillfully restored contemporary binding.
