Full details on request and in the pdf catalog - "Kosher Hours Book of Hours (for use in Rouen) In Latin and French, illuminated manuscript on parchment France, Normandy (most likely Rouen), circa 1460-1470 With 4 large miniatures attributable to a Norman artist who followed the Master of the Echevinage of Rouen 108 ff, certainly lacking a leaf at the beginning (beginning of matins of the Hours of the Virgin; difficult collation as binding is tight), Gothic script in brown ink, text copied on 14 lines, parchment ruled in ink (justification: 98 x 70 mm), headings in red, endpapers in pink and blue with white highlights (some endpapers with small colored flowers), numerous small initials in burnished gold on pink and blue backgrounds with white highlights (1 to 2 lines high), large ornate initials (3 to 4 lines high) introducing the major liturgical divisions, painted in blue with white highlights and decorated with foliage and colored flowers on burnished gold backgrounds, pages with large ornate initials accompanied by blue, pink and burnished gold baguettes and illuminated borders on reserved backgrounds (floral motifs and foliage, scrolls and vine leaves in burnished gold), with 4 large miniatures set in illuminated borders with blue and pink baguettes with white highlights, blue and gold acanthus leaves, flowers, foliage, scrolls and vine leaves on reserved backgrounds. 16th-century binding (circa 1560-1590?), 5-ribbed spine, gilt fillets on nerves and gilt cross-hatching at head and tail of spine, gilt bundle in entre-nerfs (reprise of same bundle motif in spandrels), part of paper label at head of spine with "E3" mark, 5-ribbed spine boards, gilt fillets on nerves, gilt cross-hatching at head and tail of spine, gilded crossbars (also found in the spandrels), antique label on part of the boards decorated with large central motifs and azure spandrels on a teardrop motif, additional ornamentation in the spandrels with crossbars, drums, arrows, cartouche with initials "NV", perhaps those of a bookbinder or bookseller (?), gilt edges (very good condition, a few minor restorations). A few paint chips, some rubbing with small loss of pictorial surface (notably to the two figures holding the corpse in the Burial Scene (fol. 64) and Virgin and Child, with small losses to the donor's dress and to the Virgin's dress and cloak (fol. 92v)); a few minor stains on the first leaf (calendar, month of January). Size of leaves: 177 x 125 mm; size of binding: 183 x 135 mm Provenance 1 Manuscript copied and illuminated in Normandy, most certainly in Rouen, on liturgical and stylistic grounds. The Hours of the Virgin are for Rouen, as is the Office of the Dead. The calendar includes saints honored in Normandy, and particularly in Rouen, such as Romain, Mellon, Ouen, Godard and Austreberthe. The style of the decoration and miniatures is Norman, close to the works attributed to the Master of the Echevinage of Rouen and his workshop. It is likely that this Book of Hours was commissioned by the donor in prayer depicted on fol. 92v: she is not identified, but the Book of Hours belonged to at least three generations of members of the Cacherat family, and perhaps the donor is to be sought among the members of this family? 2. Cacherat and Delanoe (?) Saint-Martin family, with elements of a 15th-century livre de raison (two births are recorded in 1469 and 1470, fol. 108). We learn that the book belonged to the "fame de Collin Cacherat", mother of Aguezot Cacherat, mother of two daughters born in 1469 and 1470 ["La fame de Collin Cacherat donna ses matines a sa fille Aguezot dessus nommées et ladite Aguezot les donna a sa fille Marion fame de Guermain et ladite Marion les donna a son filz Jacques..." (fol. 108). Members of the Cacherat family can be found in Normandy and Northern France (Pas-de-Calais). Text f. 1, blank page, ff. 1v-2, Prayer, added (May 16th century), "Veni creator spiritus...". f. 2v, Eléments de livre de raison, for the Cacherat family: "M[emoire] que marion fille de [...] saint martin...le jour saint berthelemieu...ses maregnes sont la fame guillaume manset (?)...et la fame jacquet...jehan cacherat frere de ladite..."; followed by a later inscription: "Receu par moy Jacques ...demourant a Fescamp et confesse debvoir...payer a Robert [Duchenay] (?)". ff. 3-14v, Calendar, in French, brown, red, blue and gold ink; we note the following saints: Guillaume (January 10); Vincent (gold, January 22, "saint Vinchent"); Transla
