Auriane KIDA (Born 1977) - Lot 105
Auriane KIDA (Born 1977) Crustaceamimus Gigantea Reign Plasticozoa, 2021 Proof in recycled materials H. (with base) 21 cm - W. 33 cm - D. 18 cm Crustaceamimus gigantea is one of the imaginary species featured in the "Plastic explosion" installation. Through a poetic game of assembling plastic elements, the artist invites observers (researchers and the public alike) to study the transformations of marine biocenosis confronted with the omnipresence of chemical polymers, in a space situated at the present/future interface. Trained as a visual artist (DNSEP in 2003) and self-taught paleoartist, Auriane Kida's work is permeated by the natural sciences, which she uses as material for thought and creation. Her works are a reflection on these other "non-human animals" in their adaptation to anthropic transformations of their environment and the complex relationships developed around the human presence. She addresses notions of animal intelligence, communication and architecture, as well as geological time and the great renewals of species. In 2018, she began collaborating with paleontologists to reconstruct fossil species and paleoenvironments, both in drawing and sculpture, accompanying them in the field when the opportunity arises.
