Architectural clock - Lot 330
Architectural clock in chased and gilded bronze, the uprights composed of putti in term supporting a semicircular arch decorated with pine cones surmounted by an antique vase decorated with laurel garlands and flanked by ram heads. It rests on a white marble canted base on turret feet. The circular white enameled dial features Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. The movement is signed "Pons médaille d'or 1827" on the back plate and "Lux 85" on the bronze. Restoration period H. 50 cm - W. 28.5 cm - D. 19 cm (with its balance wheel, missing bronze ornamentation and small marble chips) Honoré Pons (1773-1851) worked from 1798 as a watchmaker for the Lepaute firm. He settled there in 1803 and won silver medals in 1819 and 1823, and gold medals in 1827-1839 and 1844, which explains the inscription on the movement's plate.
