Large Limousin cross known as a croix écotée in yellow gold - Lot 70
Large Limousin cross known as a croix écotée in yellow gold 750 ‰ formed of arms bristling with small points terminating in chased motifs reminiscent of the open tail of a bird in flight. This ecotée cross from Limoges is also called Saint Esprit de Limoges. One side features a Christ in relief beneath a very large crown of thorns, while the other shows a Virgin and Child. Radiant beams emerge from the intersection of each arm, from which hangs a tear-shaped pendant, recalling the three times Jesus wept.
