BELLOY (Pierre Laurent de) Le Siège de Calais, a tragedy dedicated to the King... Followed by historical notes Paris : Duchesne, 1765. - In-8, red morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, ornate ribbed spine, red edges (period binding). First edition of this famous tragedy, first performed at the Comédie Française on February 13, 1765. The play is followed by historical notes on the "Siege of Calais", including an excerpt from Froissard's account of the event. Copy on strong paper, in contemporary red morocco. (some wear on the boards).
