[Nuremberg, Jean Christofle Keller], 1766. - Large in-4, 330 x 232: 34 pp. 4 plates. Red morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, ornate ribbed spine, interior gilt roulette, gilt edges (Derome dit le jeune). First edition of the French translation by Jacob Friedrich Isenflamm of this study of the common fly by biologist Wilhelm Friedrich von Gleichen (1717-1783), first published in German in 1764. The illustration includes an engraved headband by G. P. Frautner, and 4 superb copper-engraved plates by Johann Christoph Keller after Wilhelm Friedrich von Gleichen, who signs "W.F.L.B. de G.d.R." (Wilhelm Friedrich le baron de Gleichen dit Russworm). The plates feature 40 strikingly colored figures. A precious copy on large paper, bound in morocco by Derome le jeune, with its label stating: "Relié par Derome dit le jeune, établie en 1760 rue st jacques près le collège du plessis n° 65." (Some wear and tear. A few stains on the boards, one corner dull).
