Bird brooch - Lot 134
Bird brooch Beautiful, large brooch depicting a swallow in flight. Because of its initially removable attachment system, it could be worn as head jewelry or a simple brooch. It is in gold 750 ‰ and silver 800 ‰, the head as well as part of the wings and tail are paved with rose-cut diamonds and the body is covered with a midnight-blue enamel cloisonné with silver threads. Late 19th century PB : 29.10 g - Dimensions : 11.5 x 6 cm (minor enamel restoration at the end of one of the tail tips) In the absence of a maker's mark, it is difficult to attribute this piece with certainty, but it is very similar to a Lacloche model, photographed on Mr. Richard Jean-Jacques' website in an article devoted to the Lacloche firm. An identical model was presented at the "Paradis d'oiseaux" exhibition organized by the Ecole des Arts et Joailliers with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels in 2019 and is shown on page 59 of the exhibition's catalog raisonné.
