RENÉ LALIQUE (1886-1945) FOR COTY PERFUMES - Lot 107
RENÉ LALIQUE (1886-1945) FOR COTY PERFUMES L'Idylle also known as L'entrainement et le baiser, the model created in [1910-11], not reproduced after 1947 An exceptional and very rare perfume bottle, with a pear-shaped base and two differently decorated sides. The base in molded-pressed white glass and made up of two hot-glued parts; the stopper in molded-pressed white glass (Ref. Marcilhac Coty - 6). Original ochre-brown patina. Signed R. LALIQUE in relief on the lower right of the base; the base and stopper bear the engraved number 290. H. 9.2 cm An impact (approx. 10 mm in diameter) has caused a chip and is missing from the lower part of the base; tiny chips around the inner stem of the stopper. Public collections : An identical bottle is kept in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris under inventory number 19300. Please note: This model of the "L'Idylle" bottle, also known as "L'Entrainement et le baiser", is considered today to be the most beautiful ever created by René Lalique for his close friend, perfumer François Coty; it is also the rarest, as it was not widely available to the general public at the time and remained almost experimental. In the case of our bottle, it would appear to be only the third of this model to be presented complete in a public auction in the last twenty-five years.
