Dessins Partagés" (Shared Drawings) is a collective experiment in drawing that began in the 2010s, at the initiative of some fifteen artists, most of them graduates of the Beaux-Arts in Paris. Gathered around a practice that's both collective and playful, they take part in the exquisite cadaver exercise with a maximum of eight hands, but with a view to the drawing made by the previous artist. The principle: a drawing circulates, is transformed, and the writings and gestures of each artist interact in turn, recomposing themselves. Founded by Eugénie Bachelot Prévert and Alexandra Noat-Dumeste, the group was built on the bangs of institutional frameworks, choosing to reinvent its own forms of exhibition. Workshops, hotel rooms, salons. This project is in keeping with the collective practices of the Surrealists, inspired by the cadavres exquis initiated by Jacques Prévert and echoed by Eugénie.
Eugénie, Jérôme, Camille and Franck exchanged the drawing La sirène et le pélican to create a collective work, mixing their drawing and watercolor practices. Trained at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, each of the four artists has a singular approach to painting, drawing or collage, which they have brought to bear in this intriguingly erotic drawing.
