* Samurai kaji-haori in murasaki wool with mune-ate and ate-obi decorated with a maru ni ken kara hana mon (Chinese flower with ken in a circle), Mon from several families including Fukawa, Henmi and Okitsu. Moth holes. Following the many large-scale fires in Edo in the 17th and 18th centuries, the Edo government set up a system of fire prevention by samurai, then by civilian hikeshi firemen. Civilian firefighters fought fires on the spot, but samurai patrolled to prevent fires. Their costumes were more luxurious, first in deerskin, then in imported wool. Sleeve length: 126 cm L. 92 cm
