Yashima Gakutei (1786-1868), Carp climbing a waterfall (Koï no takinobori). Nishiki e print, ink and polychrome on paper, shikishiban surimono format. It depicts a carp in an upright position, mouth open, ascending the powerful current of a river. On the left are two poems referring to the "Torrent of the Dragon Gate" by Honensai Inefusa and Gochiso Shumman. Embossed on a silver background. Very faded signature.
